          7. Lawsuit alleges 'Property Brothers' show defrauded Las Vegas homeowners

          LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A lawsuit alleges the production company behind the reality series "Property Brothers" failed to complete renovations for a Las Vegas couple's new home.

          Mindy and Paul King filed the suit back in 2021 against Cineflix, the producer of the television series featuring Drew and Jonathan Scott.

          According to the complaint, the Kings were searching for a home in 2018 when they saw a casting notice for "Property Brothers" and submitted an application.

          They advanced through the audition process and were selected, signing a contractor's agreement and wiring over $192,000 to Cineflix.

          The suit alleges Cineflix said only an "expert," "HGTV-quality" contractor would be hired, but the construction firm brought on, Villa Construction, had no expertise, and the Kings' home would be their first renovation as a general contractor.

          As a result, there were several building code violations, including shortcuts in the electrical work.
